‘90s Fashion Trends You Don’t Want to Miss Out On

The 1990s were such an exciting time for fashion. The resurgence of some of these ‘90s trends are finally here. Here are seven of my favorites that are back and better than ever

1. Claw Clips

This hair accessory was found everywhere throughout the 1990s. They were the ultimate chic hair accessory. You most likely have watched Rachel Green flawlessly sport one of these in Friends. This trend is now more relevant than ever. The claw clip is super convenient, especially on bad hair days. It perfectly achieves the casual cute look.

2. Bucket Hats

Bucket hats are usually a controversial piece. You either love them or hate them. Either way, we can’t ignore their reemergence. Over the years, bucket hats have revolutionized to become way more fun and convenient to wear. From Rihanna to BTS’ Kim Namjoon, they are seen on the heads of many.

3. Cardigans

In the ‘90s, cardigans were super convenient to throw over a slip dress or some spaghetti straps when the weather got a bit chilly. In 2021, cardigans are still a huge trend that can be seen everywhere. Not only as a sweater, but cardigans are now consistently used as tops. Many are cropped and remain a perfect edition to spice up any casual outfit.

4. Combat boots

Combat boots, specifically Doc Martens, were the ultimate shoe of the ‘90s. It was specifically popularized by the grunge scene. Currently, these shoes are often seen styled with girly pieces such as patterned dresses to add a little bit of edge to any look. Overall, combat boots have become a necessity across runways, It Girls and the common person alike.

5. High-waisted mom jeans

The reemergence of this ‘90s trend has exploded and is now better than ever. It has specifically been popularized by celebrities known for their street style such as Gigi Hadid. Not only do these jeans elevate any outfit, but they are flattering to a variety of body types.

6. Bike Shorts

Thanks in part to the widely popular athleisure trend, bike shorts have risen back into style. Either in or out of the gym, bike shorts are perfect for any occasion. In the ‘90s, even Princess Diana was a fan. In general, bike shorts have now become revamped with new style varieties, colors and materials as it has crossed over into the fashion world.

7. Tiny Sunglasses

The 2020s marked an explosion of tiny ‘90s style sunglasses. Oval sunglasses, in particular, was a staple of both men and women in the ‘90s. They have now been carried over to the fashion scene of today. Accessorize with one of these extra small lenses to immediately elevate your look.

No matter your fashion style, you can easily add some 90s’ vibe easily into your wardrobe.  You might only need a few wardrobe updates and a fun accessory to rev up your casual wear and add a pop of 90s’ style.
