Over the summer, tech-giant Amazon surprised Texans by buying the Austin-based company, Whole Foods. However, this is just one of the many changes Amazon is bringing to the capital city.

The company has increased its local employment almost threefold since 2015, and emails have been exchanged with Mayor Steve Adler over an ambiguous expansion called “Project Rainforest”.

Many city officials have declined to comment on the extension of Amazon’s influence in the city, but as the e-commerce giant continues its search for a second corporate headquarters outside of Seattle, Austinites are holding out hope that this search might be coming to an end somewhere in Austin.
