It seems like we’re at the cusp of fall, but summer’s hot temperatures still have their hold on Austin. No matter your weather preferences, hobbies, or price points, we’ve got your weekend covered.

Texas Tribune Festival

When? Sept. 22-24

Where? UT Campus, various buildings

This annual event brings speakers from across the nation to UT’s campus to talk about the current political climate in the Lone Star State. Speakers this year include Wendy Davis, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. John Cornyn and Mayor Steve Adler. Students can get reduced ticket prices and attend pre-festival networking sessions with other attendees. Find out more information here.

Pecan Street Festival

When? Sept. 23 & 24

Where? Downtown, 6th Street

This long-running festival includes art, craft and food vendors, in addition to a loaded line-up of local musicians. The festival is a totally free, come-and-go event. The event association donates proceeds to the historic 6th street district, because 6th street used to be known at Pecan Street, the namesake of the festival. For a list of vendors and bands that will be at this year’s festival, look here.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, in Concert

When? Sept. 23 & 24

Where? Bass Concert Hall

This event features the fan favorite film, with the classic score performed live by Austin’s Symphony Orchestra. Purchase tickets online before the event, or attempt to get day-of student tickets for $10 by visiting the Bass box office.

Feet the Beatles, tribute with Foot Patrol

When? Sept. 23. 9 pm to 2 am

Where? Spiderhouse Ballroom

Located walking distance from campus, Spiderhouse Ballroom is serving up some throwback jams on Saturday night. If you’re looking for a cheap 18+ event that’s not a hassle to travel to, this is your best bet. Plus, who doesn’t love a Beatles tribute?
