Twitter Users Try To #BoycottStarbucks And It Backfires

Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz, announced Sunday that the company will hire 10,000 refugees in response to President Donald Trump’s executive order which bans the entry of immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries.

 

Trump supporters weren’t too thrilled at this announcement and started threatening to boycott the coffee giant. They took to Twitter to express their feelings with the hashtag #BoycottStarbucks.

 

The threads started off predictably:

 

 

However, other coffee lovers encouraged the boycott and appropriated the hashtag for their own means. They even found the bright side #BoycottStarbucks: shorter lines and less racist/xenophobic people trying to get coffee.

 

 

According to a recent Daily Dot article, Starbucks earned $4 billion in revenue last quarter  — so who’s really winning?
