Shoppers, beware — a new Target store will open on UT’s campus next year.

This not-so-super-sized version of a typical Target superstore, which will be constructed in the Dobie Twenty21 development on 21st and Guadalupe Street, is being developed to directly cater to college students in urban areas.

With a smaller physical size and convenient location, the store will sell many collegiate necessities, including: groceries, apartment decor, clothing and more.

“Growth on college campuses and in urban markets is a priority for Target,” Target senior vice president Mark Schindele said in a written statement. “We’re able to serve more guests by adding flexible-format stores near top universities across the country, including the quick-trip shopping experience we’ll bring to the University of Texas campus. We’re thrilled to open our first flexible-format store in Austin and to join the Longhorn community.”

The store will make its official debut July 2017, so stay tuned.
