2016 was chock-full of great movie and TV releases, and I bet many of them will have the public inspired for this year’s Halloween costumes. Here are the costumes I predict will be the most popular on the streets during the spookiest time of the year.

1. Judy Hopps from Zootopia

Pixar characters are amongst the most popular costumes for both adults and children, so it’s a given that many will pay tribute to the most recent Pixar film. After the release of Zootopia in early March, there is no doubt that women and girls (maybe men and boys too) will want to dress as their favorite bunny cop. Get yourself some Bunny Ears, a cop uniform and a sly fox and you’ll be reporting for duty as Officer Hopps in no time.

2. Valak from The Conjuring 2

The Conjuring 2 had everybody all worked up about the spooky jump scares and the terror inducing characters like Valak the demon. Seeing how the costume might be easy to compile together, there is no doubt that horror movie fans will want to dress up as the thing of nightmares. I would suggest recreating the painting scene in the movie where Valak hides behind the painting of itself. Be the person that reminds people about the scary side of celebrating Halloween.

3. Dr. Jillian Holtzmann from Ghostbusters

Whether you enjoyed the reboot of Ghostbusters or not, it’s more than likely that everyone has got the theme song stuck in their head. I would say the crowd favorite this year was Dr. Jillian Holtzmann, not only because Kate McKinnon is a goddess, but the character was fun and memorable. For this costume, you would need the Ghostbusters jumpsuit and homemade or store bought ghost catching gadgets. To finish off Holtzmann’s look, a pair of yellow tinted glasses should do the trick.

4. Eleven from Stranger Things

Everyone and their mother are talking about the new Netflix series “Stranger Things” since its release this past July. Talk shows have had interviews with the kids who stole our hearts from the beginning and everybody is worshipping Eleven. Some might have trouble recognizing the character on the streets on Halloween, but those of us who binge watched the series will be stopping all the Elevens out there for a picture. Don’t forget to give out some Eggos to the trick-or-treaters!

5. Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad

After Margot Robbie’s performance in Suicide Squad, the character Harley Quinn has resurfaced and has everybody looking for the perfect costume to become their favorite psycho. The best part about this spike in popularity is that there are several choices of costumes to wear. You could choose her prison clothes, her classic circus jumpsuit, or her Suicide Squad attire. All it takes is a trusty bat that says “goodnight” and you’ll be ready to take your puddin’ out for a night of tricks and treats.
