Feels: That Spring Fever Though
“Ugh” pretty much epitomizes the recurring iMessage bubble I send to my friends. Ugh, I don’t want to go to claaasss. Ugh, it’s sooo hot outside.
UGH, WHEN WILL SCHOOL END??
I don’t know about you, but I am ready for summertime. I know, I know, Spring Break just happened! Yet, the 18 to 22-year-old age range is for suure starting to feel the first bits of Spring Fever after the beginning of April kicked off last Friday.
Why, you may ask?
Well, for one thing, WE ONLY LIVE IN ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DAMN CITIES IN THE WORLD. Do I really want to be spending all my time in Hell a.k.a. the PCL?
Of course, I’m not promoting this notion of blowing off your classes. It’s the last stretch and all, so now really is not the time to be tucked away in your bed binge-watching House of Cards (like I just was ten minutes ago.)
But we gotta admit, # SpringFever is so real.
So here are a few of the things for you to fantasize about during your social media break from schoolwork.
YAS, SNOBEACH, YAS.
Seriously though, this local sno-cone stand is the bomb. I’ve lived in Austin for 18 years, and I still remember looking up at that cool sno-cone man on top of the trailer and thinking how much I loved this place. If you haven’t been there, and get a chance to visit in the coming weeks, get a mix of Tiger’s Blood and Fuzzy Navel for me. You won’t regret it.
Hike As Much As You Like
Ugh, I miss winter break when I had the free time to go explore the Austin Greenbelt in the brisk, fresh air. Now, with the warm weather upon us (we’re breaking 90 next week, y’all!), it’s the perfect time to hit the endless amounts of trails by Zilker Park and West Lake Hills. Find friends that have dogs too for maximum fun.
Even in the middle of Texas, ATX has so many water-oriented activities to choose from. Kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, and boating are a few that come to mind, but even just hitting Barton Springs for a nice break from the Texas heat can suffice.
Last but not least, Blues on the Green.
Austin’s largest free concert series, Blues on the Green, is the perfect excuse to get drunk with your friends on a summer night. Hosted by KGSR, Blues on the Green features four shows this year: June 3rd, July 22nd, August 5th, and Aug 12th. The dates are perfectly spaced out in the summer, so be sure to grab your lawn chairs and hit Zilker Park for an enjoyable Wednesday night.
These are just a few of the things that can get you amped for summertime. Brace yourselves, Longhorns. We’re almost there.
