Shopping Is Good For You
Didn’t get enough sleep last night because you were up until 3 a.m. online shopping for curtains that you’ll never be able to afford but they’re so so SO cute? Have you skipped dinner to buy a new pair of shoes? Do you own the same shirt in five different colors?
Fellow shopping addicts, rejoice. Retail therapy is actually a legitimate thing. Science says so: Psychologists from the Cleveland Clinic recently found that shopping is enjoyable because it appeals to all five of our senses.
Think of all the pretty things you see.
Or maybe you like the smell of money.
By stimulating our senses, we get out of “our own thoughts and a lot of times if we can get away from thinking about ourselves we feel better.”
The best part about doctors recommending retail therapy is the gentle reminder that we don’t have to buy anything to feel better; we just have to be exposed to that shopping feel.
HA. As if.
Cheers and happy shopping!
